Apple Almond Thumbprints

In an electric mixer, beat eggs with sugar.2 eggs
1/4 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup granulated sugar
Add buttery spread, applesauce and vanilla.
1/4 cup Earthy Balance Buttery Spread, melted
1/2 cup applesauce, unsweetened
2 teaspoon vanilla
Mix together dry ingredients. Stir into egg mixture.
1 cup whole wheat pastry flour
1 1/4 cup all purpose flour
1 cup oats
1 teaspoon cinnamon
3/4 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
Drop by tablespoon scoop onto greased cookie sheet. With a floured thumb, make an indentation in the center of each cookie.
Fill the "thumbprint" with 1 teaspoon almond butter each cookie.
3/4 cup almond butter
Bake at 350 F. for 12 minutes. Cool on cookie tray 2 minutes, then on wire rack.
Garnish with 1 slivered almond. Sprinkle with turbinado sugar and fresh grated nutmeg.
36 slivered almonds
4 tablespoon turbinado sugar
Fresh grated Nutmeg
